Beulah Baptist Church
Thank you for your interest in our church. We are located in a town proclaimed "The Seafood Capital of the World", Calabash. Click here to learn a bit about the history of Calabash. The town is in Brunswick County in the state of North Carolina. The county was formed in 1764 from parts of Bladen County and New Hanover County. It was named for the colonial port of Brunswick Town (now in ruins) which was itself named for Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg; at the time held by the British kings of the House of Hanover.
Beulah Baptist Church History Beulah Baptist Church was organized in 1837 and was then located about two miles North of the N.C. and S.C. state line on US 17. The early records, through 1937, were destroyed in a house fire. Reference was made of the church in 1865 in the regimental records of the Union Army, "Camped for the night two miles North of N.C. and S.C. state line at a small wooden church called Beulah. Raiding parties sent to nearby plantations and farms to gather supplies, moved on at first light back to Wilmington. Church not burned due to house of worship." Beulah joined the Cape Fear / Columbus Association in 1890 and finally the Brunswick Baptist Association in 1899. The original building was replaced in 1907. In 1924 this structure was moved to Beulah's present location on Hickman Road. In 1975 a new brick building was erected. View our 1977 Church Directory. Since 1995, there have been several additions.
The Southern Baptist Convention Since its organization in 1845 in Augusta, Georgia, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has grown to over 16 million members who worship in more than 42,000 churches in the United States. Southern Baptists sponsor about 5,000 home missionaries serving the United States, Canada, Guam and the Caribbean, as well as sponsoring more than 5,000 foreign missionaries in 153 nations of the world.
The term "Southern Baptist Convention" refers to both the denomination and its annual meeting. Working through 1,200 local associations and 41 state conventions and fellowships, Southern Baptists share a common bond of basic Biblical beliefs and a commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world.
